Travel Tips
Tips of the day from a travelling girl.
Tip #1:
Don't go to the pyramids at Giza on a Friday. Why? This is when the locals go. What does that mean? If you are two western girls, it means constant requests for photographs, whistling, hissing, and men and boys shouting at you the only English phrases they know, "Welcome to Egypt!" "I love you!" "What's your name?" and "How are you?". Not the most restful trip.
That was actually the only tip. My second tip is more of a journalistic one.
So, Journalists Tip #1:
If you are a news reporter with a video camera in New York City and you happen to be filming people being arrested at an anti-war protest outside the USArmy recruiting station in Times Square, you must be prepared for the police to make you stop filming. Because Americans like the war, remember? But it's ok to show people being dragged from their homes and arrested in Iraq on primetime, because CNN shows that, and CNN is always right.
